Course Overview
Most companies want to act on climate change but don’t know where to start, especially when their biggest impact lives deep inside their supply chains. This course is designed to make that challenge feel manageable. Over four weeks, you’ll learn how to understand the climate footprint of your supply chain, identify where change will matter most, and take practical steps to reduce emissions without disrupting how your business operates. The course is grounded in real-world experience from Janice Lao, who has spent over 20 years helping global organizations turn sustainability goals into everyday practice. Rather than focusing on theory, the course emphasizes action: how to evaluate complex supply networks, make more thoughtful purchasing decisions, and create a plan that balances climate impact with resilience. You’ll also spend time on one of the most challenging but most important parts of the work: engaging suppliers in a way that builds trust, encourages collaboration, and leads to real follow-through.

Hear From Our Changemakers
 "An enlightening and transformative experience"
The Supply Chain Decarbonization course, led by Janice Lao on Terra.do, has been an enlightening and transformative experience. The course seamlessly bridges theoretical concepts with practical industry examples, offering a real-world perspective on sustainability. Each lecture was followed by comprehensive assignments that challenged me to explore new facets of decarbonization and its application to modern supply chains. Key tools such as supply chain mapping, stakeholder analysis, emissions breakdown, and risk assessment provided a robust framework for identifying and mitigating climate-related challenges. Learning to communicate effectively with Tier 3 suppliers was a game-changer, enabling me to influence sustainability practices across complex networks. In today’s reality, where the probability of climate calamities has shifted from “1 in 500” to “1 in 5,” this course has emphasized the urgency of embedding high standards of climate action at every level—stakeholders, supply chains, and society. I now feel confident and empowered to drive meaningful change.
